Step 2: Gather Simple Supplies (you already have these!)

Don't complicate it! Crayons are best (& easy to clean). I round up all crayons including the bits and pieces into one tub for easy access.

Step 3: Create + Chat About Gratitude

A dad and mom, or caregivers, or teachers, with young children sitting at a table crafting and enjoying time together.

This activity was too fun to not jump in myself! It was a moment where I got to slow down and enjoy a morning of coloring with my coffee and kids! Try these 7 great questions to spark curious minds around Thanksgiving:

“Why do we celebrate Thanksgiving?”

→ Great for exploring history, traditions, and gratitude.

“What are some things you’re thankful for this year?”

→ Builds emotional awareness and gratitude.

“How do you think people in other countries might celebrate something like Thanksgiving?”

→ Opens discussion about different cultures and global traditions.

“How can we show thankfulness or kindness to others—not just on Thanksgiving, but every day?”

→ Helps kids connect gratitude to daily actions and empathy.

“What yummy foods do you like to eat on Thanksgiving?”

→ Encourages talking about food, family, and traditions.

“What do you think people long ago ate at the first Thanksgiving?”

→ Simple way to introduce history and imagination (“Maybe corn! Maybe turkey!”).

Step 4: Display or Gift Their Creation

Mom Tip: Add an extra level of Thanksgiving festivity! Play some fall jazz or a Kids Thanksgiving Playlist for background music.
